There were 14 million Southern Baptists in 2024, according to a new report released Thursday (May 20) by Lifeway Christian Resources, which compiles official denominational statistics. According to a Baptist World Alliance census released in 2024, the largest Baptist denomination in the world, it would regroup 246 Baptist denominations members in 128 countries, 176,000 churches and 51,000,000 baptized members. These statistics are not fully representative, however, since some churches in the United States have dual or triple national Baptist affiliation, causing a church and its members to be counted by more than one Baptist denomination.
